How to Clean Boat Seats
Boat seats can be difficult to care for. While boat seats are made from durable materials to ensure they survive regular exposure to the elements, they still need to be maintained and cared for regularly or they’re likely to wear down, fall apart, and even mildew. For tips on how to keep your boat’s seats clean and pristine, check out our guide below.
Cleaning Boat Seats
It’s important to clean boat seats regularly to ensure their longevity and avoid the appearance of mildew. After each outing, be sure to wipe down your seats with a damp cloth, then dry them completely before covering your boat. Once a month or so, we recommend using a soft scrub brush and gentle cleaner to give your seats a good scrub. Be sure to use a cleanser designed for your seat’s specific materials.
Removing Mildew
If mildew has begun to appear on your boat’s seats, you’ll need to act quickly. Begin by spraying down your seat cleaner and allowing it to sit for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Next, use a scrub brush or magic eraser to gently remove the stain, being careful not to scratch the material on your seats. Afterward, remove the residue with a sponge or soft towel. This process may need to be completed multiple times until the mildew is completely removed from your boat’s seats.
